Getting a Domain Name
In the first lesson on getting started we talked about the first priority being getting a domain name. Today we will discuss the importance and what to do if starting out you just can not afford a domain name.
Why is a domain name important? A domain name is the first step to getting recognized. You are in a affect branding yourself. So no matter if you are providing a service or a product developing a recognizable brand name is very important.
The other added benefit of owning a domain name is having your own email address at your .com address. This is much more professional than using a free service like Yahoo main or Gmail. When starting out building a mailing list people will feel much more comfortable with a web address at the end it does not look so much like spam.
How do you get a domain name? Getting a domain name has never been easier. There are many websites that will set you up in a matter of minutes. Get more details about domain name companies http://www.kjbiz.info/domains.htm
Okay so there are some pretty simple basics about domain names, but what if you are starting out on a very limited budget or just do not want to invest in a domain name getting started. Well that is okay too, there are a couple really great free services that you can start using right away to promote your product and business.
Social Networking sites like Myspace and Facebook are great. They are free and have a blogging ability to reach out to your customers. However you will not be able to directly place your own products for sale on the pages.
Blogging sites are very good to and give you a little more flexibility. Some great blogging sites to get started with are Blogger.com and Squidoo.com. They are both free to use and are very effective. Then there is always twitter too. I would recommend going to the websites and checking them out. Give it a try and see which one you feel more comfortable with!
I will be following up with much more on these topics as well. Make sure to check back soon!
Have a great day and see ya next time!
