So you are ready to be an affiliate internet marketing super star, and you know what, you can do it! But we need to take a step back and get to basics before we really get into the good stuff. If you are brand new to the internet you might not even know what affiliate marketing is and the power of it. So I am going to start with the bare basics today.
Affiliate marketing is not new or an unheard of practice, for a matter of fact it has been around since people started selling. Affiliate marketing is basically selling someone else’s product and getting a commission for it. Sounds pretty familiar right? That’s because it goes on everyday all around us, from the small kiosk in the mall selling jewelry cleaner to the car dealership selling cars.
The key benefits of affiliate marketing are that you don’t have to create a product of your own. There is no worry when it comes to customer service, because clients will not be calling you. The only thing you have to worry about is marketing.
So where do you get started on the marketing part? That is the tricky part, but it is easier than most people think. The first thing that you will need to do is find a product that you would like to promote. You can find products that are digital or products like DVD’s, TV’s or even big ticket items like washers and driers. There are literally thousands of products out there to choose from. A really great place to get started is digital products and one of the largest resource’s for digital products on the internet is ClickBank.
The next step is picking keywords that are directly related to the product that you have chosen to promote. Doing keyword research is going to be a very important part of your marketing strategy and it needs to be taken seriously. You do not want to pick broad key words that are to common. A common keyword phrase could leave you competing with literally millions of other websites. Do searches and use tools like Google’s Keyword Tool to help narrow down the keywords you are going to use.
Pick a couple keywords phrases and write an article on each one. Use the keyword in your title and in the first sentence of your article to get the maximum exposure to search engines. Writing articles does not have to be difficult and you do not have to be an expert in the particular niche you have chosen. Do some research and read other articles related to your product. Do not copy and paste, that is not cool and will not help you in the long run. Search engines are looking for unique content and you are really going to get much more out of taking the time to create your own articles.
Build a website to point all your articles at, but keep in mind that building a website is not what it use to be. With options like Squidoo.com and Weebly.com you can create a professional page for free and it can be made to be very effective in driving customers to your affiliate link. Use one of your articles as unique content on your site and submit the other articles with links back to your page to article directories. Do not put affiliate link in your articles make sure everything points back to your site with the affiliate links on it.
To become a true affiliate internet marketing super star is going to time and it is going to take work. There is no such thing as get rich quick when it comes to internet marketing. There are extremely valuable tools to help get you there, but you are still going to have to do the foot work and put the effort in.
